Philosophy

An ecological way of living, a beautiful everyday environment and time to enjoy it — that is what a good life is made of. This is the philosophy behind everything we choose for our shop. We select products we would keep ourselves, from makers who work the way we believe in.

The Name

Cigale & Fourmi takes its name from an old French fable: the grasshopper and the ant. The grasshopper is laid-back and sociable, living for the long summer evenings. The ant works steadily, preparing for the seasons ahead.

We believe there is a grasshopper and an ant in all of us. Work hard, enjoy fully — a good balance between the two is what well-being looks like. Our name is a daily reminder of it.

Inspiration

Nature, tradition, design and colour guide our selection. You see it in the hand-picked products on our shelves: objects made of natural and traditional materials — clay, wood and metal — shaped by local craftsmanship, designed to last, and carrying a hint of childhood summers.
