Pots at Fiskars Manor Chosen to Complement Traditional Plants and Historic Building

Posted by Cigale & Fourmi on

Fiskars, celebrating its 375th anniversary, has a stone manor in Fiskars Village, Raseborg, used for official purposes. This impressive building was complemented with pots from Cigale & Fourmi, chosen to match both the house's ambiance and the traditional plants.

The Fiskars stone manor, built in 1815, is a neoclassical building. During the design phase, drawings were requested from three architects to ensure the outcome was as magnificent as possible. Although the building's appearance is exceptionally striking, it maintains a cosy and warm atmosphere. The long history of the house is evident, and the interior and items also tell the family's story.

Today, the building serves as an official venue for Fiskars. Therefore, it is especially important that the reception is inviting and visually appealing.

Pots that complement the plants and the building's style

Finding suitable details for such an impressive ensemble is not easy. Previously, the entrance of the house was flanked by pots that were too small for both the building and the plants within them. When the over 50-year-old agave plants began to suffer in their small pots, it became necessary to find pots better suited for their purpose. The pots needed to be large enough not to be overshadowed by the building and to allow the plants space to grow and thrive. Suitable options were found in the Cigale & Fourmi collection, with the help of experts.

"With expert assistance, we found pots that perfectly suited our needs and wishes. I didn't have specific visions, and it was challenging to imagine the final result, so the help was very welcome. The perfect pots were eventually found outside the basic selection," says Malena Lindqvist, who is responsible for events at the Fiskars Manor.

Now the entrance is adorned with approximately one-meter-tall, upward-widening Italian terracotta pots. The combination of terracotta, white stone steps, and light yellow walls is stylishly harmonious and beautiful. Next to the pots are also old cannon carriages, which complete the ensemble in a stunning way.

"The significance of the pots is truly great. Only now do the agave plants come into their own, and they are also growing with a new energy. When looking at the house from the road, you can see the plants with their pots from afar. The view and the entire entrance are both impressively stylish and warmly inviting."

The large pots are located next to the main door, but pots from the Cigale & Fourmi collection can also be found elsewhere in the building's yard.

"A set of three slightly smaller pots in the garden is a beautiful detail that our guests often praise."
