Green values
We would rather sell less, better.
A thing that lasts is the greenest thing we can sell. Almost everything in our shop is made of clay, wood, brass, wool, felt, cork or linen — materials that come from somewhere, can be repaired, and can go back somewhere when their life is over.
We buy from small workshops and family firms, most of them European, and many of them places we have visited in person. Buying direct means fewer middlemen, longer relationships and makers who are paid properly for their work.
We buy in season and in small runs, so little is left over. And when something can be looked after — a brush, a wooden handle, a leather strap — we would rather you came to us for care advice than bought it new.
The solar panels in this photo are ours, and the energy they produce is used at our pottery showroom.
None of this is a certificate or a slogan. It is simply how we choose what to buy — and what we leave out.
